About this deal

Yes, it's true, Yeti has been great from the beginning, and now that you know where it comes from (so to speak), let's talk a little bit about the pros and cons of owning one. Most of the time you can't go wrong, but it's nice to know the perks and the downsides just the same. Pros The Beast and Yeti tumblers are both sturdy tumblers with similar price ranges, builds, and sizes. Some of the basic differences lie in the lids. The Yeti lid has a slab that slides shut and can come off, making it easy to wash. The Beast lid has a snap-shut lid that is slightly harder to remove. It’s also advertised to be sweat and rust-resistant, which is cool if I happen to leave it in my car while I’m on a few days vacation… On the cleaning instructions provided by Greens Steel, there is a note stating you need to leave the lid slider open for 1-2 minutes before closing to prevent this from happening. If you're set on the Yeti Rambler but also want something more cupholder-compatible, Yeti makes a travel version of the same mug with a higher-placed handle and thinner bottom. There's also a straight tumbler with no handle.

How easy it was to clean each tumbler: We washed each tumbler according to the manufacturer's instruction and noted how difficult or easy it was—as well as whether any special tools like bottle brushes were required. After testing, the tumblers with stronger beverages like coffee, we noted if there were any lingering aromas. Pelican is a company that makes quality flight cases for sensitive equipment, and in many ways they’re like YETI: a small company who established a niche with a specific product, then started building a brand around it. This tumbler is a bit different than the rest, and if you love the screw-on lid with the bigger spout area it’s a good buy. A solid tumbler with a classic cup shape and an ergonomic lid that works well, though it fails to stand out from the crowd We love that the BEAST actually lives up to the hype and does what it says it will. If I put icy water mixed with lemon for flavor in my tumbler, the ice is still found 8 hours later! If you are looking for a tumbler in which you can make a hot cup of coffee then simply throw it in your bag, there is a chance you could have a big spill to clean up. This is not a leak-proof lid and is simply ‘spill-proof’ which is important to know. For ease of use, the tumbler has a tapered end, meaning it fits into pretty much any regular cupholder. That also means that you can take it anywhere you go and always have somewhere to put it. Plus, as mentioned above, the cup doesn't sweat, so you won't get your hands or anything else wet in the process. It will not leave water stains on surfaces, and better yet, it won't water stain itself either. Any watermarks that accumulate can usually be scrubbed away with no problem. The lid is advertised as, “Sliding Spill-Resistant, Shatterproof Crystal Clear Straw Friendly BPA Free”… what a mouthful! Nothing can ruin a morning quite like taking a sip from your coffee mug only to discover that your beverage is unappetizingly lukewarm. Thankfully, there are tons of insulated cups on the market that are ready to rescue you from enduring such an experience. And there are loads of variations, from petite mugs that are perfect for camping to giant tumblers that are sure to quench your thirst throughout the workday. If you're tired of bringing a fresh iced coffee to work only to find it watered down too soon thanks to the summer's heat, then an insulated tumbler might be exactly what you need. Because of their construction, which consists of double walls and a vacuum seal, these tumblers are perfect for when you’re on the go and want to keep your beverage hot or ice cold for hours.

There are also two sizes to suit your needs and budget – 30 oz (as featured on the video) and the 20 oz BEAST Tumbler (pictured below) 5. Keeps Your Hot Drinks Hot and Your Cold Drinks Cold – Even Overnight! The thermos circumference is a little wide—those with smaller hands may have trouble comfortably holding this cup for long periods. But if you can overlook that, there's a big perk: This design-forward tumbler features a ceramic interior that keeps odors and other flavors from long-ago pours at bay. The lid also features a thinned drinking lip, making it easier to sip without spilling. How comfortable each tumbler was to hold: We held each tumbler in hand and noted any design features that enhanced comfort or functionality. For example, tumblers with handles or textured surfaces helped provide additional grip. The differences between these tumblers is so small that it would be impossible to tell them apart. The real difference is between the tumblers and the water bottle: because the vacuum-sandwich stainless steel walls provide the most effective insulation, the wide lid of a tumbler is a real liability. Even the fact that the Hydro Flask tumbler has no seal to keep steam in made only a tiny difference in the test. What about the dishwasher, though? RTIC and Hydro Flask say that you should hand-wash only, while YETI specifically claims their tumblers will survive dishwashing. (Pelican doesn’t comment either way.) Given the number of outright contradictions we’ve seen over our years researching vacuum-insulated products, we’re not surprised by either answer. Extra-hot drying cycles will make the metal expand and contract, so there’s some risk to every mug, but the biggest problems are usually with color coatings and glued-on plastic pieces. Our intensive testing spans five mutually exclusive metrics to give a comprehensive overall picture of how each tumbler performs: So, what is the difference that brings the price down? The plastic “foot” on this new RTIC is less tough than the YETI if you drop it on a hard surface, but the difference in price more than makes up for that. How well the tumblers prevent spills and leaks: We filled the tumblers to maximum capacity with room temperature water, sealed them, and laid them horizontally on top of a towel. Then, we inspected for leaks, noting where the leaks occurred and how much water was spilled. The price of this tumbler is high, and it doesn’t keep your drink any hotter or colder than others.

Spout stoppers: Flip-up stoppers and slide-over stoppers are the two common approaches to keeping a tumbler closed. Look closely at what you’re buying, though: Many tumblers are made with a few different lid styles if you look for them. For one thing, the Beast is sometimes cheaper than the Yeti. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, you might find that a Beast tumbler won't last as long because the quality is just not the same. The cup will be immune to this kind of thing for the most part, of course, but the lid will be ruined and it could leave a pretty foul odor lingering on the cup itself. Lids can be bought separately, but you'd undoubtedly prefer not to have to spend money on a new one. Of course, if you are thorough in cleaning the lid off, this may never be a problem for you.If you love drinking through a straw, the Klean Kanteen Insulated is the tumbler for you. While many tumblers offer a straw lid option, this one is our favorite both to use and to clean. The stainless steel straw turns to bendy silicone just above the lid, allowing you to handily bend it to drink, just like your favorite childhood plastic version. Around the base of the straw, a silicone seal does an astonishingly good job of preventing nearly all spills — we had to slosh it vigorously at a 90-degree angle to get even the smallest drop to squeeze through. That silicone seal also pops out for easy cleaning but remains attached, so you won't lose it. The Hydro Flask – 32 Ounce Insulated Tumbler is a notable contender from one of the big names in the world of insulated drinkware. Many publications give it a win for the sleek profile and brand reputation. Beast tumblers come from the company known as Greens Steel. Greens Steel is a bit newer than Yeti Coolers, having been officially started in 2015. Greens Steel was created out of awareness for the damage that single-use plastic has done to the earth. This goal is reflected in their name, Greens Steel, and the company focuses on making tumblers and other drinkware that is completely eco-friendly. RTIC compromises on quality very slightly, with some plastic parts, but the vacuum insulation is all that it needs to be. A tumbler is also available in much larger sizes than popular travel mugs. You can buy a thermos or a giant insulated water bottle, of course, but those aren’t easy to sip from.

We were only able to fit this tumbler in the extra-large cupholder. Our testers were very impressed with its leakproofness (it didn't leak when held upside down or shaken)—suitable for consuming beer. And they weren't impressed with its ability to insulate heat—also suitable for consuming beer. Our testers did say the separately sold handle would be a bonus. "The Beast was a little large in my hand, and while it was easy to grip the external material, it could benefit from a handle," one tester noted. "But a great value considering the capacity and its stellar performance preventing leaks." Durability is one of the most important characteristics in regard to long-term use. A lifetime warranty usually indicates the manufacturing is of high enough quality that a brand is willing to insure their products for an indefinite amount of time. This is a rare, yet very special feature we totally love! 3. Comes With x2 Premium Unbreakable, Rust & Scratch-Proof Stainless Steel Straws It comes in a wide range of appealing colors and in a beautifully presented gift box that is completely recyclable. In many ways, the Pelican – Traveler hits the optimal price to performance ratio in this lineup, but that doesn’t make it the best buy.The most noticeable design features of the massive tumbler are its handle and a tapered base that's shaped to fit into any cup holder. This means we can carry it around comfortably from our desks to the gym to our cars, where it sits comfortably during the drive. The sturdy handle especially makes it so easy to lift and carry. The lid is fitted with a reusable straw and is adjustable so left-handed people can also use it comfortably. Hate handwashing and air-drying water bottles? Us too! These are dishwasher safe, so we can finally keep our water bottles squeaky clean and not skirt around the task. Yeti has basically become synonymous with high-end coolers and tumblers. The Rambler Tumbler is Yeti’s version of a beer mug, but it’s a fantastic option for holding any kind of beverage. That's thanks to Yeti's double-wall vacuum insulation, which does a good job of keeping cold drinks cool and hot drinks warm for long periods of time. Another perk of the Yeti Rambler is it's dishwasher safe, increasing the ease of cleaning. For quite a while, the Yeti tumbler was the only vacuum-insulated tumbler on the market that was dishwasher safe. It paved several paths in the tumbler industry as far as durability and versatility were concerned. Obviously, there are many durable and dishwasher-safe tumblers on the market now, but Yeti's leadership in the industry does say something about how innovative its design is and was. It's nice to be aware of companies that are willing to give their best effort to be creative while still keeping the environment in mind. The Yeti is a great company, but don't disregard everything that Greens Steel Beast tumblers have to offer. Now that you know a bit more about them, let's explore a few pros and cons of The Beast. Pros Our testers liked the insulating capability of this tumbler and that there was no metallic taste in the water during testing. One tester noted they'd like to see this model be a bit taller and thinner and with a cover to close the lid's drinking hole. "This wine tumbler style isn't something I'd recommend to a friend, although the quality of this one is good," concluded another tester. "If you like wine-style tumblers, this one is the one to buy."
