Maslenitsa, the Russian carnival

The celebrations that welcome the arrival of Spring last a week in Russia. There’s lot of food and drink, especially traditional blinis. The crowning moment of this Russian carnival, known as Maslenitsa, is the burning of a straw figure that represents winter and welcomes in the flowers of Spring.
