About this deal

Besides this fragrance smelling absolutely fan-tas-tic, it's a great performer (fills a room) that lasts a solid 18-24 hours on my skin without fail. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.

I will likely but this eventually, but for now, I appreciate Abdul Samad Al Qurashi’s offerings more (mainly Safari Extreme and Qurashi Blend). It is followed by patchouli, honey, a dash of a rose note, and some abstract, amorphous, dry woodiness. Now, as I repeat often, my skin amplifies base elements and sweetness, so that is perhaps the cause, as Sehr el Kalemat is not generally a super-sweet (let alone a gourmand) fragrance for most of its life. However, I must emphasize that I personally think the two fragrances are extremely different if you take out the smokiness issue. I never thought I would consider this a scent I would really end up preferring to wearing during the summer.

This is defenitily a fragrance reccomended for people who want to get in oudh fragrance but don't know what would be appealing to others as well. This is such a wonderful perfum for those people who are just dabbling into OUD or those who just want a bit of oud. The basic expression of Kalemat Black reminds me of dark and dirty things like brown coal, tar, maybe rubber. Perfumes with natural ingredients often smell different in batches based on the source of the ingredients, while synthetic ingredients usually have consistency in their smell and lasts longer.

And indeed in interesting journey unraveling the pages of it's development and teaching me in an olfactory way to "never judge a book by it's cover" ; never judge a scent by the first sniffs. For me it’s VERY similar to Arabian Oud’s ‘Arabian Nights Black’ with a tiny little something of ‘Majestic Woody Intense’, but being all from the same house, it’s got to share some kind of familiar DNA. I’m actually quite a fan of guaiac wood usually, and AM indeed a fan of “deeply dry, woody smokiness” as you put it, so it is sounding pretty appealing to me. The cocoa was a rich, almost buttery, thick chocolate with a nutty undertone that soon mixed with a very custardy vanilla in the base.
