About this deal

Silver in the Bone is a YA urban fantasy inspired by Arthurian legend with epic battles, a unique found family, lies, betrayal, curses, romance, and so much more. I love the author’s writing style, use of dialogue, and interesting characters, but I struggled a bit with the world building and pacing. However, A LOT of people want this ring, so she works with her rival/person she dislikes but has liked her the entire time 🤭🤭 this is shown in the quote:

I can at least be brave enough to tell you. I can tell you that to me, you’ve always felt like spring. Like possibility. I admire you, and respect you, and I want to be near you as long as I can. As long as you’ll let me be.” Did you know you can flag iffy content? Adjust limits for Language in your kid's entertainment guide. Get started Close This book has a lot of Arthurian references. I get that the author loves mythology and she really wanted to immerse us into the experience of the Arthurian legends, but I have to say this: they weren't really that well explained. I feel as if some descriptions are told too fast, and some other are too long without really explaining anything (the action scenes feel like this too). I didn't like to feel that lost, and the author kept adding more and more elements without explaining them well. As a result, I felt very lost at some points of the story, and I really have some moments I never got to understand. But she's not the only Hollower who covets the ring and Tamsin is forced into an alliance with the last person she can trust, her rival Emrys. Together, they must journey from underground Boston to the cursed ruins of Avalon, where a secret is waiting to be exposed that has the power to awaken ghosts of the past and shatter Tamsin's only hope of saving her brother . . . This book stopped at a major cliffhanger. Suffice to say, I will be waiting for the sequel and I'm so excited! El último libro que leí de ella fue Lore, un libro que os recomiendo mucho porque es increíble, si en esa ocasión nos mostraba un mundo mezclado con la mitología griega en esta ocasión nos vamos al mito del rey Arturo. A harrowing and heart-rending adventure about finding the courage to not be controlled by fear.”—J. Elle, New York Times bestselling author of Wings of Ebony The surprise factor is there and I enjoyed it!!! I feel sometimes I would have been more surprise if I had known more about the legends that the book talked about, but that's on me and that's not in most of the moments. I will be reading the next books, but before that I will read more about Arthur and his friends.

Silver In The Bone’ Alexandra Bracken’s New Arthurian Novel ‘Silver In The Bone’

The characters also made it hard to get through...I didn’t like them for a large portion of the book. Simmering with magic, peril, romance, and heartbreak.” —Leigh Bardugo, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Shadow and Bone Tamsin Lark has always been a Hollower, a treasure hunter, and when rumours swirl about a powerful ring from Arthurian legend that can break her brother’s curse, she embarks on her deadliest hunt yet. Not because that was what I was made to read, or because that was the books we had, because I loved them. Their relationship didn’t feel like it built at all, and just jumped from “i tolerate you” to “oh goodness we’re hiding together in a very small space AHHHH touching”

I loved this book. The whole way through, from beginning to end, it kept my attention and had me wanting more. The last third of the book was brilliant! Dark, twisted, suspenseful, and surprising, it was more violent and gory than I expected, especially in one particular scene (which also broke my heart into a million pieces!). I feel like the rest of the book was much slower-paced and set up a lot of what happened in the last third, and as much as I thought the pacing was off, the slower parts were totally worth it for that epic ending! You always seem to assume the worst,” he said, “and you expect everyone else to do the same. But all you’re really doing is punching at phantoms the rest of us can’t see.” I am a huge fan of fantasy and romance. This was more adventure and mystery than romance, but I was drawn to the nuances of the enemies-to-lovers trope. What stood out to me that was devastatingly strong was Tamsin and Cabell’s relationship as orphaned siblings. They were under the ‘care’ of a guardian who is a treasure thief. Although their bond is strong through troubled times, it is obvious how they’ve become different as their vulnerability shows throughout the novel.

Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken | Waterstones

Tamsin Lark has always been a Hollower, a treasure hunter, and when rumours swirl about a powerful ring from Arthurian legend that can break her brother's curse, she embarks on her deadliest hunt yet.Tamsin often frustrated me with her stubbornness and unwillingness to change. She makes so many bad decisions, and she pushes away all of the people that try to help and support her. Sometimes, she is her own worst enemy, and I wanted to shake her. I understand how events and trauma from her past affected how she is now, and she showed growth by the end of the story. I think her relationships and what she experienced in this story will affect her and change her in the next. And I’m dying to find out about some of the other characters. There were several jaw-dropping things that happened, and I need answers!!! Join a deadly hunt fuelled by love, revenge and pure adrenaline to find a legendary ring and break the curse. I will say that if you're looking for this book to be really invested in the Arthurian side of things, it's not really that much - yes a lot of it takes place in Avalon, and King Arthur's death is used as one of the main plot devices, but it's not a retelling or really used the Arthurian mythology a whole lot, which I was expecting it to do. I'm guessing the actual mythology will become more involved with the story as the series goes on, but I would've expected more in this first book. Did I still scream when I saw the signed copy in a bookstore near me and give them my money immediately? Yes. Yes I did. As word spreads, greedy Hollowers start circling, and many would kill to have it for themselves. While Emrys is the last person Tamsin would choose to partner with, she needs all the help she can get to edge out her competitors in the race for the ring. Together, they dive headfirst into a vipers’ nest of dark magic, exposing a deadly secret with the power to awaken ghosts of the past and shatter her last hope of saving her brother. . . .

Silver in the Bone Series by Alexandra Bracken - Goodreads

This book!! This book!! I am obsessed and in love with Silver in the Bone! It was absolutely incredible! My favorite part of the story is the amazing enemies-to-lovers romance between Tamsin and Emery. Oh my word, do these two have chemistry! Their banter, the push and pull between them, and the way they fight their feelings before eventually succumbing to them are fantastic. I can’t wait to see what happens between them, and I have a feeling there is way more to Emery than meets the eye. His character is shrouded in mystery, and I am really questioning his actions and motives at this point, so I’m eager to see how his story and his romance with Tamsin play out.

Common Sense is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century. The setting was a bit hard to define. It has the feel of the traditional fantasy setting, but it also seems like it is in the present, so I was a bit confused with that aspect of the story. I think I didn’t expect it to be an urban fantasy going in, so it threw me off a bit. I liked the lore and mythology, the magic and curses, and a lot of the other fantasy elements, even though there were some inconsistencies and some parts confused me, but the world-building was clunky. We are thrown right into the story with little information or context, which I didn’t enjoy, especially because the start was so slow. Later, there were a few passages that felt like info dumps, but some others left me confused and questioning. One character who doesn’t get much limelight but is still important is Neve. I enjoyed Neve’s character and connection with Tamsin because she is good-natured and willing to open up. Upon joining Tamsin, Emrys, and Cabell on their quest, she brings out open-mindedness and helps Tamsin get out of her shell. Many questions are unanswered and people to stay wary of, but she sets the goal to study up and find her inner power all while facing the unknown.
