About this deal

G-Sonic is a special ultrasonic wash formula that offers a more pure and focused blend of additives than can be commonly obtained off the shelf. This is a gentle proprietary blend of surfactant and emulsifier. The result is greater groove penetration for a superior ultrasonic cleaning.

I love the company’s ethos and commitment to the vinyl format and its continuous pursuit of a better record listening experience. It’s safe to say, they’ve not rested on their laurels. GrooveWasher recommends spraying a little G2 Fluid on the leading edge of the pad before gently applying it to a spinning record. Rotate to the dry side of the pad, and then let it air dry for a few seconds before lowering the stylus. Notes:For heavier cleaning needs, choose the *Two-Step G3 Record Cleaning Fluid. It's the same formulation as GrooveWasher's One-Step G2 Fluid with one important difference: An increased surfactant concentration for greater power to get down and do the dirty work!

The Tonar Knosti Disco-Antistat Ultrasonic vinyl washing machine combines high-tech ultrasonic cleaning with the proven goat hair brush system. This ensures gentle, groove-deep cleaning of your records and an audible improvement in the sound image. During operation, the special anti-static cleaning fluid is permanently clarified by a filter system and dirt particles are filtered out to minimise impurities in the fluid and thus achieve the best possible cleaning result. Several cleanings using GrooveWasher G2 Fluid may be required to remove these difficult contaminants.

GrooveWasher does offer G3 Fluid for heavier cleaning needs. G3 is a more powerful formula that does require a rinse with GSR Super Rinse or distilled water. Type of Record Cleaner: Record Cleaning Machine | Pros: Improves record cleaning results and makes light work of batch cleaning | Cons: The vent position on the smaller VC-E could’ve been better placed Curious to see how a surfactant could improve the result, I added a drop of GrooveWasher’s G-Sonic concentrate to the water tank. G-Sonic is a surfactant and emulsifier blend that helps aid the cleaning process and break water surface tension. Notes:This 15 ml (approx 1/2 oz) bottle of SC1 Fluid is formulated for use with the GrooveWasher SC1 Stylus Brush. It is also effective with other stylus brush styles. Ultrasonic cleaning for vinyl records is an interesting concept. It works by using high-frequency pressure sound waves to agitate a liquid, producing tiny cavitation bubbles. Lots of tiny bubbles produce forces, which help to gently lift dirt, dust, and grime from the record grooves. All the fluids mentioned in this article contain either no alcohol or a minimal trace amount and are considered perfectly safe. The drying cycle worked fairly well, but a few droplets of water did remain on the surface. I dried the last couple of drops with a microfiber pad, but for me, this shows that a ten-minute drying cycle is a requirement. I struggle to see how five minutes would be enough. Cleaning Results: with added Surfactant I would advise steering clear of record cleaning kits that contain fluids with high amounts of isopropyl alcohol. While the jury is still out on what level of alcohol (and type) is safe to use in record cleaning fluids, it’s best to steer clear of formulas with very high amounts. In terms of results, I’ve reviewed both the G2 record fluid and the SC1 stylus cleaning kit extensively in the previous articles linked, respectively. For this review’s purpose, I will keep it brief and refer to the earlier articles.

Ask ten different people which vinyl record cleaning method they prefer, and you’ll likely get ten very different responses. Unlike many other publications listing the best record cleaning kits, our selection is based on real personal experience, having tried every one of the products listed. An all-in-one ultrasonic vinyl cleaning machine that automatically cleans and dries your record in just 7 to 15 minutes. It is compact, lightweight, quiet and compatible with 100v-240v. Putting the “Ultra” in ultrasonic record cleaning! G-Sonic is the additive your ultrasonic machine needs. G-Sonic reduces the water’s surface tension so the cavitation can reach the bottom of the microgroove. Notes:The ultra-fine goat hair carefully remove dust and dirt from your records. The soft, antistatic bristles reduce the build-up of static electricity and give you a crisp, clean sound. Can be used with AM record cleaner for a deeper cleaning. The handle is made of Japanese Zelkova wood. Super wetting agent: A specialty chemical that reduces the G2 Fluid's surface tension to reach the bottom of the groove. When you spray G2 Fluid on a record you can see it spread down the grooves.Borrowing a concept from the computer accessories industry, numerous companies have released gel-based vinyl record cleaning kits. Drip stand (drying stand) with collection tray for up to 15 LPs or singles (slides into the case after use). Notes:Pro-quality record cleaning system from Dutch vinyl specialists Tonar. Ultrasonic cleaning aims to remove dust and dirt without damaging the grooves. Highly effective, gentle care for 7-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch records.
