About this deal

If you are a hiker or camper who likes to trek 9 miles into the woods to find a camping spot – look elsewhere.

In fact, I’d go as far as recommending using this bag as a duffel at least 75% of the time… if not more! His affinity for gear that works and his generosity for guiding people on their own path match his energy as editor of all things travel-related. If you are in the market for a tech-friendly laptop – check out our laptop backpack guide and our camera backpack guide. Whilst my 55 litre old Osprey pack was ideal for backpacking, the 95 litre version of the Transporter isn’t is a full-on ‘travel round the world’ or expedition backpack. That said, it is perfectly adaptable for weekend breaks, holidays to even short haul backpacking trips.

It features separate compartments for your gym essentials and work tools to keep you organised throughout the day.

The first thing I noticed is how incredibly rugged and durable all the materials are, from strong zips, water-resistant materials and tough handles which almost encourage you to throw the holdall around. The Transported is made out of a 400D Nylon with a double-layered coating of TPU — not only is this fabric incredibly tough, but also abrasion and highly water-resistant, meaning that you can take it wherever, whenever and it will still look great for years to come. The lid has its own pocket — unzip this and you'll find two padded shoulder straps, allowing you to easily transport your kit across airports, train stations or busy town centres without needing to have arms like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It definitely will get easier with practice but if you use this as your main luggage you won’t need to pack it away that often.

Also, if your gear is sharp (construction materials, camping gear, samurai sword, etc) you won’t have to worry about it poking through. Because great in-depth gear reviews will help you select the right products for your specific needs, budget, and interests. As I was heading to the Lake District for a walking weekend, one trick I used was saving some of the space in the main compartment for a day sack. The backpack-style carrying system of the Osprey Transporter is more comfortable and sophisticated than any other option in our lineup. This AllHold (AllHold = duffel bag + backpack) is one of the most durable backpacks we’ve ever seen and is going to be a dream bag for some people.

Another leather offering from Kodiak, the 60 litre Weekenderprovides – as you can tell from its capacity – a whole load of room for you to pack a whole load of stuff. These zips are also lockable and will accept most luggage padlocks, so you can ensure your belongings are kept safe from prying hands. The great part about that is that if you want to only use it as a duffel, or just want to get rid of the straps for a bit – it’s a piece of cake! Backpacking and traveling the world can be quite strenuous on your body, which is why if you want a backpack, you’re going to need one that provides better support for your back. The Osprey Transporter duffel bag uses the company's well-respected backpack technology to create a comfortable and high-quality piece of luggage.
