About this deal

I also notice a small widening of the overall panorama and soundstage compared to other Shanling DAPs I’ve heard and particularly their lower-tier models. Their top models differ in that sense of course and perform best. The micro SD card slot can accept a card of up to 2TB of capacity. In my case, a 1TB can carry most of my FLAC file collection. Well, our complaint (along with many others) has been heard, as Shanling recently introduced Tidal streaming functionality to the M1s, elevating the user experience to a new level. I’m glad it has been added because I’m one of those who believe it should have been present at launch. I first tested the M1s as DAC/amp, playing Coltrane and Radiohead in lossless, Tidal MQA and 320kb OGG through my Kindle Fire and a Dell laptop (note that a driver is required for Windows). Because the MS1 uses the same ESS ES9038Q2M chips as Shanling’s UA5 and UA2 dongles (albeit with a more powerful amp), I expected the M1s to sound more-or-less the same—warmish, smooth and balanced across the different frequencies.

Shanling uses their Mtouch 2.0 OS on the M1s and it seems to thoroughly separate folder lookup options this time. The music lookup options are more specifically divided. There are 3 screens full of options to choose from upon inspection. Shanling M1s vs HIDIZS AP80 PRO-X (229 USD vs 200 USD) – Right at the end, there’s a DAP that’s actually much smaller than M1S, and AP80 PRO-X is actually more similar in size to Shanling M0, than Shanling M1S. This being said, the size also brings some problems with it, and M1S has better support for features, and a much stronger driving power, where AP80 PRO-X is a much leaner, lower power source that sounds good with IEMs, but does not have quite the driving power, impact and punchy of M1s. If you need something that’s simply smaller, AP80 PRO-X is much smaller, but the M1S has a stronger, punchier, more dynamic sound that has a better impact.Three of the five are obvious far as what they do which are the folder, my music, and the now-playing options which take you to the music player. The other two are where most of the good stuff is. The caveat here is that you’re then forced to use the headphone connections at the bottom but some prefer that. Also, the volume is flipped to the bottom. The Shanling M1S is a compact digital audio player that supplies many features audiophiles will love. First, it features an ES9038Q2M Premium 32-Bit high-performance DAC chipset from ESS Sabre Technologies, enabling crisp, high-resolution audio decoding. It’s a chip known to provide ultra-low distortion and high SNR values. When all put together, M1s comes as our most featured and best sounding MTouch player, while staying true to its heritage of compact design The smallest DAP from Shanling has now received a small but significant update, as the Shanling M1s Portable HiFi Player is now also equipped for TIDAL.

Customers are to bear the consequences and fees incurred, if the parcel was undelivered due to any of the following situation: I got mine for about 140 dollars. They had a sale for 169 and then I got them to take off another 15%. I'd say that's a pretty fair price. I wouldn't have paid full price, at that time you could get the r3 saber for a bit more on sale. That was a better value, I just liked the smaller hidizs- it looks cool in blue. The small Shanling M0 Pro surely feels sturdy since the main body is made from a solid chunk of aluminum which is then CNC-shaped. The Shanling M0 Pro looks like a miniature M3 Ultra. It has similar slotted sides and a similar multifunction rotary volume knob.

I agree with HiBy and their assessment when they specifically said that their general objective in the R2 II sound signature was to obtain a warm vocal forward presentation with low sibilance, and controlled high-frequency output. That’s what they got in a nutshell.
