Serving Suggestions Our identity is drawn from the heart of two Premier Crus: Grande Champagne & Petite Champagne. Distillation with the lees concentrate the aromas of our white wines tenfold. Light toasted fine-grained wood barrels preserve our cognac's authentic personality that is celebrated around the world. Hine Antique XO is a blend composed of forty eau-de-vie made with Ugni Blanc grapes that come exclusively from Grande Champagne crus, a particular terroir of limestones and chalk that provide vivacity and finesse to the Cognac. Aged for an average of 22 years, the choice of distillates highlights the fruit and floral notes, bring richness to the blend. The fine grain of the Tronçais oak style offers up ripe fruit flavours, and release hints of walnut, freshly toasted bread and blonde tobacco as is signature of the house. Our British founder, Thomas Hine, chose the emblematic stag to represent Hine, most likely because of the analogy between the words Hine and hind. However legend has it that in Dorset, Thomas Hine’s home county, lived a white hart, a harbinger of good fortune and that this is why he elected the stag. This Hine 100 Year Anniversary Cognac contains the original Antique XO, with a special eau-de-vie from the 1920 harvest too. It has been preserved by the cellar masters in glass demi-johns in the Réserve du Paradis in Jarnac, where the Englishman Thomas Hine established Hine Cognac on the banks of the Charente river in 1763.

Made in Petite and Grande Champagne, the range offers great variety, from classic expressions to wild cards and bespoke Cognacs. A recently relaunched XO sourced from Grande and Petite Champagne, this is a Cognac to woo whisky lovers, with smoky oak, dried fruit and stewed plum, moving into slightly austere tobacco leaf, clove and liquorice. Only 1920 decanters exist of this rare nectar, and each bottle has been lovingly numbered by hand.An independent family domaine with a link to successive Hennessy Master Distillers, Jean Fillioux has about 20ha of vineyard in the heart of Grande Champagne. Bottled at an unusually high strength, this has great intensity and complexity, with more flavours leaping from the glass the longer you leave it: peaches in syrup, orange blossom, dark honey and cigar humidor.
