About this deal

I wouldn’t have any second thoughts of getting rid of the 660s, but the 600 and 6xx… I don’t ever want to part with either. A truly legendary headphone series for a reason. I can absolutely see why some may prefer the HD600 over the HD6xx, and I love them both. However, I could absolutely do without the HD660s. I've never truly loved them, but hearing the other two made me disappointed in the HD660s even more. I don't regret buying them, and they served me very well, but... I paid at least double for them and the return on investment just isn't there. Live and learn!

With the HD580x, you get a sense of height that is noticeably more prominent than the width factor, which hurts separation of instruments and makes it more of a vocalist’s ideal headphone and not one suited for wide sounding recordings. The HD 6XX are a welcome and brilliantly executed second generation for one of Sennheiser’s best values, and a chance to nab easily accessible audiophile sound for a serious bargain. Is there a better alternative? As a result, it might not give the sound you want if you connect it with your phone. It will be good to use with computers, however, you will still need an app for that so that you can get the exact sound you need. Clamp . It’s hurting my head after 20mins. This is a music gear not jail torturing device . German please fix it . There are more examples, of course, but at the end of the day there is very little to argue in favour of the HD8XX’s tonal balance. It has the Hifiman centre-mid dip taken to an almost caricatural level that I’ve never heard in another headphone before, so while meaner fellows like I would brand the HD8XX as a terrible, no-good, very-bad headphone, the nicer amongst you may perhaps call it “unique-sounding”.

Sound - Lesser bass slam, midrange is a bit boxier than Fenestrated Sheepskin, smallest soundstage. Mids – Midrange is what HD6XX does really well, in fact exceptionally well considering its asking price. Lower midrange is very clean, neutral and linear while the upper-midrange has a very natural reference-ish forward presentation with good ear gain and peak presence at 3kHz. It has very accurate tonality and timbre of instruments which makes HD6XX sound very natural and realistic. It is fairly resolving and well-layered, especially for its price. Summary – HD6XX has a very natural, well-balanced, warm sound signature with very good tonality and timbre of instruments. It has a mostly neutral bass presentation except for a minor sub-bass roll-off around 40Hz and a tiny 2-2.5dBs boost in the 80-200Hz range. It has extremely well-done midrange which is its main USP; it being linear, neutral and almost perfectly tonally accurate. Lower treble is natural, easy to listen to without any harshness or sibilance. Upper treble extension is fairly good with a prominent peak at around 15kHz. Overall, HD6XX is one of the easiest headphones to get along with because of how natural, comfortable and well-done the sound signature is. he pretty much dislikes every earphone/headphone that can authentically reproduce the sound of instruments.

These have a pretty solid soundstage, much bigger than your typical closed headphone. They definitely excel with any kind of acoustic music. I have also found that they're great headphones for tuning a system because it's very easy to hear changes in the system and make sense of them. Very balanced sound. The Sennheiser HD6XX can be the perfect headphone for you if you are an audiophile and at the same time looking for a headphone of a modest price. It is a high-end headphone with a fix at less kind of deal and has an impressive design. It’s hard to nail down the right classification for these headphones because they’re technically all of the above. Yes, the HD8XX comes off as fairly warm due to the contrast between the lower and upper mids; yes, the HD8XX is technically “V”-shaped due to its mids being less emphasised than its bass and treble; and yes, all of these characterisations basically revolve around a distinct centre-midrange “hole”. More than a decade after debuting, the HD 650 have gotten a refresh (sort of), and you might even say they’re better than ever. This second coming of the HD 650 was actualized in the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX, the result of a collaboration between the storied audio brand and the “audiophile” subset of Massdrop’s commerce community that have proven extremely popular — so popular, in fact, that the company is still selling them years later. It has a huge frequency response of 10 Hz to 41 kHz, which is phenomenal for a headphone that costs way less than 500 USD. To help illuminate granular instrumental texture and vivid clarity across the board, a laser tight response helps up the top. These headphones are all mids. I feel like the entire section is highlighted. It's present from the very first use. Something about this sounds speaker-like too, like it's similar to speakers, not a "headphone sound". This is a pro and a con IMO. It's good because it's more familiar and what I am used to in my mind, but also bad because it feels a bit off from other headphones I have experience with. Compared to my previous headphone though, DT880 250ohms, it sounds a mix of way more lively, aggressive, and “correct”. And if you try to use them in noisy places, it will ruin the sound quality and also you might use a volume with unsafe hearing levels, which can cause damages to your ears.
