About this deal

It makes you keenly aware of how your impressions of some characters is entirely based on what others say about them. There are a large number of potential suspects, however once you get down to it there are only a handful of true possibilities. It’s not that I dislike books that use the epistolary format on principle, but I find that they can often be . They learn from Tanner that three correspondents have assumed false identities in some of their messages and actions, and one person does not actually exist.

Though perhaps you should make sure said cap is your best houndstooth deerstalker, so you can Sherlock your way through this clever mystery. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. Those are great, and have their place, but I appreciated the change up in formatting and storytelling here. When Martin and Helen's two-year-old grandchild, Paige's daughter Poppy, is diagnosed with a brain tumour, their friends and hangers-on immediately form a committee to crowdfund an experimental new treatment from America. A wholly modern and gripping take on the epistolary novel, The Appeal is a “daring…clever, and funny” ( The Times, London) debut for fans of Richard Osman and Lucy Foley.

The community members rally around the family involved to raise money for experimental treatment to save the little girl's life. The bossy, capable tones of Sarah-Jane McDonald, who as a former charity sector fundraising manager is naturally best placed to assume the mantle of campaign coordinator for A Cure for Poppy are spot-on - sometimes persuasive, sometimes hectoring.Olufemi (Femi) Hassan and Charlotte Holroyd are tasked by their boss QC Roderick Tanner to sift through the correspondence of a number of people to try to prove a convicted client innocent of murder. In my paperback, alternate text messages had a dark background surrounding the print, making them difficult but not impossible to read. However, I did appreciate the epistolary format of the novel, the murder mystery at the core and the humor.
