I loved this story. The story line was completely new I had not come across this concept before. I just goes to show if you want something it is certainly worth going after it. This gripped me fully and I found it hard to put the book down. But an old family recipe book is just the inspiration she needs. If you’re after traditional Italian gelato in interesting Dubai-popular flavours such as Vimto and Lotus, then Cone Street hits the spot. Made with all natural ingredients, the gelato is creamier than creamy. Try the sorbet here too, which is made with pure spring water, fresh fruit and sugar. I must admit that I like the romanticised concept of moving to the countryside and running a small farm, but I would need help with the twice-daily milking, that requires a special type of dedication. Of course, Beca finds the help and support that she needs to ensure that she can provide the milk and shelter that her new venture requires. I absolutely adored this book, just completely loved it. Jo Thomas always sells me a dream in her stories but this one in particular felt like I was there with the characters and could so easily imagine the town, the beach, the whole set-up. I really enjoyed the ice cream making and the pop up café that Beca sets up. I found myself wishing it was real and I could stroll along the cliff path and stop for a delicious treat. There were so many delectable flavours on offer! I love Jo Thomas’s books and have never read one that has disappointed me yet. For me, this one started off a little unevenly and I thought this might finally be the one that I didn’t love. I loved the ‘hand up’ focus in this book - helping others and sharing the love - as much as the exploration of how difficult it is to return home. If that's not enough to cool off, why not splash about at one of these swimming and paddling pools in Surrey or enjoy a cold drink on a roof terrace? And don't forget to keep an eye on the weather forecast for the area. A gorgeous book about starting again, second chances, returning home, love, and finding your spark. While I do think that things go somewhat miraculously for Beca as a carer, the author does raise the issue of the foster care system and the kids who are in need. Based on my professional experience, I do think things went a bit too smoothly but this is fiction after all.
