Where to have a ‘celebrity-style’ wedding

Judging by the number of famous people who choose Italy to get married for the first, second or third time, it surely must be the most romantic place in the world.
n a romantic version of Shakespeare’s work, in Venice it’s worth paying a pound of flesh in exchange for taking photos next to the Grand Canal. However, if the flesh is that of the famous person, especially if it belongs to George Clooney, it’s worth its weight in gold. The actor and his bride Amal Alamuddin chose the city of canals for their wedding. After all, who wants to arrive in a Rolls Royce when you can do it aboard a motorboat? The pre-wedding dinner took place in the classic Belmond Hotel Cipriani, followed by a party with fireworks after the ceremony in Aman Grand Canal Hotel, a 16th-century palazzo with gardens and frescoes by Tiepolo.
Weddings in Castello Orsini-Odescalchi are sometimes held in the gardens, with views of Lake Bracciano.

The most exotic weddings

For a pop diva like Katy Perry, a beach isn’t enough. You need to stay in a luxury tent, such as those offered by the resorts of Aman-i-Khás and Sher Bagh in northern Indian. Here you can hold a Bollywood-style reception and take your guests for a ride in a jeep to see tigers.

As Clooney has shown, Italian villas are the most romantic place to get married (Sorry, Victoria Beckham, but they’re more popular than Irish castles). And especially those that border Lake Como, close to the Swiss border. Villa D’Este, where the actors Emilly Blunt and John Krasinski got hitched, has been a luxury hotel since the 19th century, with Renaissance-style gardens looking onto the lake.
There are four private buildings besides the main one, a palace dating back to the 16th century where a cardinal used to stay during the summer. Even older is Villa Pizzo, the hotel that won the heart of the model Chrissy Teigen after first falling in love with the singer, John Legend. The gardens next to the lake are the largest in the area and the premises are considered the most exclusive place in the north of Italy for holding events.
The ten luxury tents in the Aman-i-Khás resort are pitched around the camp fire.

Classic elegance

The classic wedding style never goes out of fashion. Dressed by Valentino, Nicky Hilton, one of the heirs of the hotel magnate, and James Rothschild, a descendant of the European financial dynasty held their wedding reception in The Orangery, in the grounds of London’s Kensington Palace.

It wasn’t enough for Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, however. They chose a military fortress that looms large over Florence for their special day. But not everyone can afford to spend €400,000 or hire the tenor Andrea Bocelli to liven up the ceremony. Other options for an Italian wedding are Odescalchi Castle, in Bracciano, near Rome, the choice of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, as well of Martin Scorsese and Isabella Rossellini. Or you can rent the entire Borgo Egnazia resort, in Apulia, in the south of Italy. As well as its 23 villas, you get a private pool surrounded by a lemon and olive grove, with views of the Mediterranean. At least Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel decided it was romantic enough for them are their 100 guests.
The Parrot Cay resort is proud to take luxury to the beach.
For many couples, a dream wedding is getting married on a beach in paradise. Baja California, in Mexico, Costa Rica or Hawaii are just some of the destinations where celebrities go and dress up in white on the sand. The friends, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, also had the same idea. The former got married in the Sugar Beach Resort on the Caribbean island of Santa Lucía, while Ben Affleck promised Jennifer Garner he would be faithful to her in The Parrot Cay by COMO resort, on a private island belonging to the Turks and Caicos Islands, lying off the south of Cuba. This hotel offers the opportunity to hold the wedding on the beach, so the paparazzi can’t run away.
