About this deal

giving away the character's identity. He's presented as if made up of an orange map; edges are jagged and some small "islands," also orange, float

Behind the Scenes: A whole slew of featurettes covering a range of cool elements from the series. We have -Standouts for wraparound would be the roiling heavens and thunder and lightning bolts above the Well of Souls and the fury and Nazi-damning powers of God during the Ark opening ceremony. You can really hear the voices spirit swirling around the speakers now. So many elements came together seamlessly to make this a landmark film. The direction is deft and efficient, with all of Spielberg’s trademark style and flair in evidence, but with little in the way of overindulgence. The pacing is brisk, but not too brisk—not modern, but definitely a new gear for action-adventure films of the period. The cast is perfect across the board, with Harrison Ford coming fully into his own here. He carries the story with an effortlessness that belays how hard he’s actually working. The stunt work is superb, the set pieces are satisfying, the costuming and period production design are pitch perfect. The script is wry, funny, and honest by turns, and always engaging. There are certainly some cultural depictions of their time, but then that’s how creative works are. Still the film has aged beautifully. And John Williams’ iconic score—arguably his best work apart from Star Wars—lends everything a certain kind of magic, gravitas, and energy... and even a bit of whimsy. This is an unquestionably great film, and one that’s withstood the test of time. Note that the menus here are identical to the previous Blu-ray releases. Which means this 4K disc also includes the following extras:

The very welcome move from the Criterion Collection to expand into 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc releases in the UK continues into 2024, with the confirmation that Ridley Scott’s Thelma & Louise is set to [...] We say: Fortune and glory, kid! An impressive 4K Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos upgrade of the existing Blu-ray boxset. This is the biggest of the retrospective docs that were put together for the previous DVD collection. Everyone involved gets to reminisce about the production, and the classic is broken down from conception and story, through the shooting, the stunts and the FX, to the release and the lasting legacy. The INDIANA JONES 4-MOVIE COLLECTION includes nine discs in the set. Each film is presented on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc with original theatrical trailers and on standard Blu-ray™. The set includes an additional Blu-ray™ with seven hours of previously released bonus content. INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

The Last Of Us Part II | An 'element' cut from the game will appear in season 2 of the TV series

More good stuff to found here. Same vein as before. The story, the casting, the shot and the stunts. There was more humour in this one, and this was naturally a deliberate choice after the grim antics of Doom. Connery reveals that his closest scene with “Junior”on the Zeppelin was performed with both himself and Ford sans trousers beneath the table, and the trials of shooting the tank scene – which was typically very slow moving when compared to the charging horse – is also given some detailed analysis. No issues with dialogue, directionality or score. This one thunders along with just as much intensity as its predecessor, employing the full speaker set-up with absolute precision and a furious desire to engage the viewer in the onscreen action. I love the directionality and clarity of the popping cork and disguised gunshot in the Club Obi-Wan. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny follows the adventures of Indiana into the 1960s. Although he tried to put his life of adventuring behind him, he donned the hat and whip again to stop Nazis from stealing a dial with time-travel properties. His adventure leads to him meeting his goddaughter, Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), and his old pal, Sallah (John Rhys-Davies).

Chapter 2 - New York: Blast off to adventure as James Mangold showcases the re-creation of 1969 Manhattan for the Moon Parade chase. This featurette spotlights Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) as John Williams conducts his beautiful new theme for this compelling character. As with the other 4K discs, the menus here are identical to the previous Blu-ray release. Extras on the disc include the following: Relive the unforgettable exploits of world-renowned, globetrotting hero Indiana Jones in spectacular 4K Ultra HD when the INDIANA JONES 4-MOVIE COLLECTION arrives in a new 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray™ set from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Entertainment.

Customer reviews

Now, for the first time ever, all four films are available together in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision® and HDR-10 for ultra-vivid picture quality and state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos® audio*. Each film has been meticulously remastered from 4K scans of the original negatives with extensive visual effects work done to ensure the most pristine and highest quality image. All picture work was approved by director Steven Spielberg. As with Raiders, this image boasts amazing depth-of-field, at times becoming almost fully three-dimensional. Doom is the most intensely photographed and this transfer I found to be spellbinding. Top of the box office charts for 2023, and by some distance, is The Super Mario Bros Movie, the spiritual successor to the 1993 live action version. Sort of.
