About this deal

However, unless your child is especially sensitive about anything I have mentioned I believe that anyone 10+ would enjoy this story. Its themes include survival, politics' incursion on domestic life, and the challenges of growing up. Anna's WW2 story is very different than others because she is a young girl who doesn't understand the world around her. Judith was awarded the Booktrust Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016, and in 2019 was named Illustrator of the Year at the British Book Awards.

This book is about a girl named Anna, who lives in Berlin at the start of the story, just before the German election takes place. I have a celebratory collection many of her pieces of artwork for the childrens’ books, woven with straight biography and analysis by Kerr herself of ideas and events which gave rise to the children’s books or the narrative of the trilogy. She struggles with speaking French initially, but one day she’s overjoyed to realize that she understands its concepts and can speak it fluently. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The hardships and successes this family had moving to Switzerland, France, and finally England, made this a wonderful read!

The family is safe and relaxed; indeed, the only time they experience anti-Semitism is when they encounter German tourists. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Published in 1968 and never out of print in the fifty years since, it has become a much-loved classic and perennial bestseller.

Papa can’t find much work as a journalist, as the Swiss want to remain neutral and not antagonize their neighbor to the north.

It is hard enough being a teenager in London during the Blitz, finding yourself in love and wondering every night whether you will survive the bombs. It was a privilege and delight to read this book by Judith Kerr suitable both for young adults and grownups and to reflect how difficult life was for refugees fleeing the Nazis, safe despite bombs and a British sort of benign prejudice - if there is such a thing. The only thing that I din't like about this series is the huge time gap between books as it is a bit disorientating when you first start reading. They also learn the Nazis appeared at their Berlin residence to confiscate their passports and bar them from leaving the country.Sie sind fesselnd geschrieben, kunstvoll und in vielen tiefen Nuancen durchdacht, auch wenn der Schreibstil sehr einfach ist. That first book, When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, was definitely written for children close to 9 or 10 as a minimum age, though its upper age readership widens to include the not so young adult as well as the YA market, as the writing itself, and the viewpoint, though accessible, is deep enough to be experienced and enjoyed at whatever level of understanding the reader possesses.
