The idea is to have a device that is able to receive and transmit different radio protocols just by configuring its software. The HackRF One is a new software defined radio that has recently been shipped out to Kickstarter funders.

From tool developers to non-profits, we only partner with people or organizations that enhance and contribute the community. The HackRF One from Great Scott Gadgets is a software defined radio peripheral capable of transmitting or receiving radio signals from 1 MHz to 6 GHz. You will need an antenna of course, they do not ship with one, however there are two small telescopic versions, the ANT500 and the ANT700. Image rejection and sensitivity could be improved by using your own preselector front end like many people have done with the RTL-SDR. Maybe I can just assist one of your "hackers in residence" no need to pay me and I want no ownership of produced material.

Contains everything you need to listen to HF with HackRF One down to below 100kHz, giving you a signal range of 100kHz-6GHz+! It may look better, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is better from the standpoint of a demodulator algorithm, for example. Right now I haven't been able to use it to its fullest, been mostly just listening to whats out there.

and able to generate a stream of data up to 320 MB/s, and there’d be no viable way to aggregate eight 2. Kimmo Heinäaro presented a paper at the 2015 International Conference on Military Communications and Information Systems (ICMCIS) outlining how military tactical communications could be hacked with HackRF One and other open source tools. I saw another device, much bigger though by another company, cost 2500USD and claimed it could tune in to those bands. If your algorithm works best with your signal centered at 0 Hz (many do), you can shift the frequency in the digital domain, moving your signal of interest to 0 Hz and your DC offset away from 0 Hz.

The confusion was based on the fact that the MGA-81563 amplifier is advertised as a “14 dBm” amplifier, but that specifies its output power, not its amplification. In the worst cases, certain Jawbreakers experienced a DC offset that drifted to a great extreme over several seconds of operation. Most wideband SDRs are like this but these images are also not helped by the low 8 bit ADC resolution. Thank you to a few blog readers for pointing out that earlier this month the URTI GitHub lab-notes were updated with a progress report, and some further information about the architecture.

Skill Level: Competent - The toolchain for programming is a bit more complex and will examples may not be explicitly provided for you. We do not sell low volumes of HackRFs to people individually; instead we have agreements with specific resellers. They also note progress on their software which will provide a DSP library for the FPGA, and their tests of a display via a hand held game console. If this cyberdeck looks familiar, it’s for a good reason — it’s [Gabriel]’s second stab at this build. However, if you have a solid grasp of RF and are looking for a capable SDR that you can use for a multitude of projects, it quickly becomes one of those "how did I ever get along without it?

MHz in the S-band, and the ground station it now downlinks to is likely in Svalbard, rather than in the USA. It is the first affordable Software-Defined Radio to be tried and tested by professionals, semi-professionals, and hobbyists. Using an outdoor 43 foot vertical the HackRF One was tried on some of the SW bands and ham bands, so far am very pleased. The HackRF One requires an external computer to control it, or the PortaPack device, which allows untethered use of the HackRF, with massive built-in functionality. In the end, [Oleg] shows us some promising results – two DVB-S transceivers visible on the waterfall display of the spectrum capture.
